As of January 2006 the clinical department of the BNI was transferred to the University Medical Centre Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE). Head of the unit is - as before - the tropical medicine specialist Prof. Gerd-Dieter Burchard. Following the transfer, BNI and UKE will further extend their cooperations in biomedical research.
