Biologist Annika Renneberg receives a 400 Euro award for the best diploma
thesis in the study course biochemistry/molecular biology at the University
of Hamburg.

Buruli ulcer - the mystery disease
Buruli ulcer is an emerging disease caused by Mycobacterium ulcerans.
Knowledge is scarce as to how the disease is transmitted. An African-European
consortium lead by the Bernhard Nocht Institute now conducts a multidisciplinary
project in three African countries which aims at the development of new
tools and knowledge in the early recognistion and treatment of the disease.
The German TV science show Nano broadcasts a documentary on
the project site in Ghana on December 11th, 2006.
